We couldn’t do this without you.
We are sincerely grateful for your interest in joining the ChangingGears team. Volunteers are needed to facilitate the process of transferring vehicles from donors to new recipients, and both automotive and administrative skills keep this engine running. Let us know which realm of expertise best fits your interest, and we’ll get things moving.
Whether you are an ASE master technician or you just like to tinker, all levels of experience are welcome. As a member of the automotive team, you’ll help fix any issues diagnosed by our certified technician. Projects come in all shapes and sizes like changing oil, swapping a transmission, or detailing a car’s interior. Given the wide range of repairs, this is a great opportunity to help out your community, get some dirt on your hands, and maybe even acquire a new favorite hobby.
Want to lend a hand, but can’t tell a car engine from an air conditioning unit? Not to worry, there are plenty of administrative tasks involved in processing donated vehicles to matching them with approved clients. As a member of the administrative team, you’ll assist in transferring vehicle titles, inputting donor and client information in our database, as well as keeping track of any repairs made to the donated cars. Even the most menial tasks take on new meaning when you see how they’re connected to the big picture of fighting poverty.
Prior to purchasing a car, we teach our clients the fundamentals of car ownership and maintenance through both classroom settings and hands-on experience in our garage. We’ll provide you with all the materials, so you don’t have to be an expert to play a meaningful role in this process.
